    YaBB?

What about the "Yet another Bulletin Board" program?

I have been using it for a little while, and it seems to be ok. It's not as robust as VB, but is fine for me.

    Understand...I am NO expert though!

    Other opinions?

    Thanks!

There are a lot of hosts that have this board on their four letter word list. From what i've heard, it's a real resource hog.

Additionally, I heard it had a bunch of major security holes. In fact, the YaBB support forum was hacked a while back.

How is YaBB anymore of a resource hog than other forums that work in a similar manner?

I think YaBB uses flat text files rather than MySQL to store data, which can be extremely hard on the server if it is a very active forum. I would suggest using one that uses MySQL, which is millions of times faster, in my opinion

You do realize that that MySQL relies on flatfiles, too, right? I bet the problem is that unlike MySQL, the data is thrown all over the place, and you have to call many webpages.
