How to promote a poker forum?

    Hey,
I am working on a poker forum right now and I wanted to get tips from anyone that has run a similar site.

I know a lot about running sites and forums, I do it as a living but I wanted to know if there's anything special I should consider for a poker forum?

The first thing I want to do is get my name out but I think a poker forum is different than a lot of others I have run.

I want the forum to have a mature and professional member base.

Normally when I start out a site I do a post contest, I have thought of one for my forum but it is a little different than I normally do.

You can find information on it here

Can anyone give me any specific advise for a poker forum?

    Thanks

Offer $50 transferred to your partypoker account. That would be a good poker contest prize.

Hold freerolls for forum members. Fulltilt does this.

Be careful with the freerolls. It will attract many new members, but many of them are freeroll chasers with no intention of contributing to your forum and will not convert into referals since they have accounts at every freeroll offering poker rooms already.

Freerolls are a good way to reward loyal members, just make sure to have clear and efficient restrictive guidelines.

sign up on all poker sites and start playing at tables under the username DueceAce. That will get your name out there and recognizable. Play free and pay tables. You can always thow out the fact that you run a forum at the table chat (just don't be too obvious or people will think you're spamming)

Yeah I think the freerolls work but only to a certain extent.

A lot of people do just come for freerolls then leave, having them for regulars is a good idea though

sportslitter I just changed my username last week to DeuceAceCOM on most sites.
DeuceAce was taken on a lot so I wanted to have the same name on most rooms anyway.

I think doing this and giving out my name every now and again should help, perfect people to advertise to
