What templating engine to use?
I need some recommendations on what templating engine to use in a CMS i'm working at. I want something which is well documented, comes in a single file, and has support for dynamic blocks. Oh and it can accept the HTML as a single file, or a variable. And of course, it has to be fast.

Hi there digitman!
I know of http://smarty.php.net/ and it seems to be the most popular, and somewhat good. I only have minimal experience with it however, and a long time ago...but its worth exploring.
In addition, here's an older post on sitepoint that may be useful:
Acutally, I am currently working on a php application development framework, and was thinking about using/creating a templating engine, and decided NOT to use one. The rationale behind that is I didn't want to add an extra "layer" on top of PHP by having a templating language/script, but instead allow users to code in pure PHP, retaining all of its power and flexibility. Obviously this might not apply to your project as much, but I thought I'd mention it!
