    Favicon

    How do I make my frameset display a favicon? I already have an image suitable.

    Just upload the favicon.ico file into your root directory.

    Nope, I uploaded favicon.ico into my main directory, and I have no favicon.

    You also need to tell the browser that there is a favicon to download....

    Put this in your frameset document:
    Code:
    <head>
    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="www.yourdomainname.com/favicon.ico">
    </head>

    Check out www.favicon.com to make one and for good explanations of how to use them.

    It should work then.

    However, I know what you mean. I tried using favicons once and it never worked for me. Try emptying IE's cache and see what happens.

    Also, I went to a SitePoint Article and added that to my favorites. Along with it, it added the favicon. When I looked at the code there was no code in the head tag.

    These things are buggy (or IE is....)

    Are you running IE 5.5+? It only works in that.

    Sometimes it doesn't show up, sometimes it does... this feature is kind of quirky in IE, not a whole lot you can do about it.

    sometimes i need to repair/rebuild the Windows icon cache. you can do that w/ TweakUI on the repair tab. or you could try deleting the hidden file ShellIconCache from the Windows folder and restarting.
