    Reselling E-Commerce?

Looking for opinions on the best e-commerce solutions to resell. I've looked into Revecom and 2Checkout. As a budding web designer, I would like to find a solution that I can charge the customer to implement, but also get some sort of a kick-back or bonus on the back end.

I realize that a separate merchant account/gateway/shopping cart system has the highest monetary potential, but this is all so d*mn confusing! How can I possibly explain all these different components to my customer if I barely understand them myself?

Thanks for all opinions on this topic.

I would become an affiliate of a 3rd party or merchant account provider and have your customers sign-up through it, when they're ready go ahead and implement the service into their website for an extra setup fee. Some companies may offer a monthly residual program where you may get some $$ from each sale the merchant makes through the 3rd party processor or his merchant account (which ever he/she uses).

As far as understanding merchant accounts I agree, they can be confusing. 4 years ago I didn't even know what a merchant service was. My site provides quite a bit of information on it, the Buyers' Guide that Matt and I worked on provides some great information as well. You can find it either here on SP or at http://www.merchantseek.com/buyersguide/

Don't try to absorb everything at one time, break it into pieces. First, the basics about what a merchant account is, then which solution is best a business (I've got a table on this at http://www.merchantseek.com/guide.htm/), the rates and fees involved, how to get a merchant account (by local bank or merchant account provider), if your wanting to implement Real-Time processing then learn what a payment gateway is (VeriSign, iTransact, Authorize.Net, etc.).

Honestly, if you take it bit by bit rather than in one large chunk it's quite easy. Please let me know if you have questions or areas that need some light shed on them. I'd be more than happy to help you understand the process.

    Thanks Jim!

    What an informative post!

I have visited your site several times and each time I learn something new. It is excellent.

I think I agree with you about the 3rd party solution you suggested. Am I incorrect in thinking that Revecom and 2Checkout offer the best pricing? I think their service fees are pretty reasonable considering all the services they offer. Are there other 3rd party providers that offer comparative pricing?

Thanks again. Any other opinions out there guys?

    Thanks!

There are several posts I have floating around with that list of 3rd Party Processors...but here it is again. I'd look at each one. ProPay offers some good rates and can be used for manual processing if you take MOTO or even face-to-face.

    CCBill - http://www.ccbill.com

Globill-Systems - http://www.globill-systems.com (good for sites offering memberships and the like)

    GoEmerchant - http://www.goemerchant.com

    ClickBank - http://www.clickbank.com

    Verza - http://www.verza.com

    Web Charge - http://www.web-charge.com

    PayByWeb - http://www.paybyweb.com

ProPay - http://www.propay.com (allows for automatic and manual transactions without customers signing up for an account)

    Revecom - http://www.revecom.com

    CCNow - http://www.ccnow.com

    BidPay - http://www.bidpay.com

    2CheckOut - http://www.2checkout.com

    InternetSecure - http://www.internetsecure.com

    IBill - http://www.ibill.com

    PayPal - http://www.paypal.com

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again for your comments!
