How safe is Mambo for building a Large Comunity (over 5000 users) ?!
I read that has many security issues, what are the worst things that could happen to my site?!
Thanks.

Some prefer Joomla.
I use mambo integrated with vBulletin on a large forum with 25k members and almost 700k posts.

mambo has quite some vulnerabilities, one thing you can do is make sure no-one know you're using mambo.
I have a site of wich I'm pretty sure even a mambo expert wouldn't think of mambo when he sees it.
Is Joomla any better?
joomla has got more bug/security issues fixed since its seperated from mambo, so yes
peach, is the site that you are talking about the clearwind.nl?

I'd have to say that Mambo would probably suit fine. Like with any CMS you'll need to take regular backups and keep your installation always updated. I'd have to say that Joomla is updated more often, so you might wish to go with it.

http://www.40konline.com just went to Joomla and it appears that it's quite fine for large sites. They've got well over 30,000 members.

Mambo definitely has security issues. It's a very complex package, and unless a development team decides to be paranoid about security there are going to be holes.
What features are you needing for your community? If you just need static pages then my own program (see my tagline) would work for you. I don't know of any good forum software that doesn't have security issues.

If you're posting articles for somebody else, forget it. The default drop-down menu where you select somebody's username to designate them as the author of the article gets cluttered up really fast. You aren't going to have much fun opening a drop-down menu with 5000+ entries on it.
There's probably a mod or hack you can get to change that... not sure. Been awhile since I've used Mambo.
