    mouse rollover problem in IE5.x?

Does anyone know if IE5.x has a bug. I have noticed in both IE5 and 5.5 that any web page's image rollovers don't work very well on first load. It is only when I go back the page that the rollovers work correctly. Before the rollovers are almost delayed. The author can even set the images to preload and it doesn't matter.

What gives? Am I the only one?

    Hi,

Nothing that I've ever noticed or, more importantly, heard about. But then again, at 24600 bps throughput, 'delay' is normal.

If you really think there might be a problem, you can check in the m$ libraries/databases at: http://msdn.microsoft.com

Are you preloading your images? If you're not then the browser will have to load the image before it can be displayed. If you're using the default Dreamweaver javascript for preloading, it doesn't work right. Best to use the javascript that I use. The preload works perfectly every time. Weird!

No man, it's not my site. It is really any site I go to at work (IE5 NT) or at home (IE5.5 Win98). In fact, your site (www.kbxl-kspd.com) does the same thing. I'm convinced it is a preloading issue but what the issue is I don't know. Do you think you are correctly preloading of images?

Again, the first time the page comes up. The rollovers are slow like the browser really has to think about it. Even when I rollover it again and again. Once I rollover it should be quick the next time around.

The only way for it to work properly is to go to another page and then go back. I thought it was just my work browser IE because we customized it, but no it is happening at home as well.

I just realized that my IE5.5 at home (have not tried at work) will only correctly switch out the images when I use the back and forward browser buttons. If I go to your About Us page, then go back home, and then click About Us, I still get the problem. However, if I navigate back to About Us using the Forward button, the rollovers work very well.

OK, I'm either going mad or there is a bug here.

I will looked on MS's website but didn't find anything.

Okay, this thread is a few weeks old, but I thought I'd reply anyway. I noticed that in IE 5.5 rollover effects were delayed if I had IE "Check for newer versions of stored pages every visit to the page." I changed this to "automatically" and rollover effects now work just fine with no delay.

Damn! you are right. That is the problem!

That's really weird and something I have not seen reported yet. Thanks a million!
