Finding a sponsor for my site

I am looking for sponsors for my cats site. The site itself is quite large with tons of articles and pics, make your own cat page feature, postcards, cat headlines and very active cat forums.

    Basic stats:

    130,000 monthly pageviews

    18,000 monthly uniques

    1300+ registered forums members

700+ personal cat pages (that people make for their cats)

    My questions:

    1. Do you think I should work on finding one sponsor or split it into sections (like a sponsor for the forums, a sponsor for the cat pages etc.)?

    2. What would be the range of sponsorship fee I should ask for (and what would you think I could actually get )?

    3. How should I go about it? Contact the larger companies first or the smaller ones? Who would be more likely to sponsor a website? Should I negotiate or just offer the price I expect to get? I live in Israel, so I would have to conduct everything via email/fax.

I guess that's about covers it all Any tips and comments are welcome!

Any ideas? I've just been contacted by a major cat food company and they asked about my proposal. If anyone can throw me any figures I would really appreciate it.

One million a month? One thousand? One hundred?

I need a reasonable figure for a targeted site with 140K PV and 20K monthly uniques. I don't want to scare them oof but I don't want to sell my site short either.

I guess it's really an issue of how long you want to keep them for, and how much you need the money.

By charging around 50-100$/month you should cover your fees and earn some money, but more importantly you will develop a relationship with this company: Which to me is more important.

You could go as high as 400$/month.

Take a look here for other folks' rates: http://www.theadstop.com/

    Thanks!

I don't see any sponsorship figures (and by the way, those CPM figures look unrealistic as well - according to them nobody charges less than 20$ CPM...)

The ones that have the monthly figures (400$/month) are essentially sponsorships.
