    pre-populate form in iframe

    hey all,
i'm trying to make things a bit easier for users who wish to access there stats from within our CMS.

We have apage they can go to which has a iframe which points to our hosted urchin login page.

What i'd like to do is simply prepopulate the users login and password in this form. does anyone have any ideas how to do this?

    here's the data i have.

    the iframe is called "Urchin"
the form within the iframe is called "login" with two fields "user" and "pass".

    any help would be appreciated!

Where do you intend to get the data from?

What's the point of a login form if you are going to pre-populate it?

it will either be hard coded, or passed in via ColdFusion.

and the idea here is to speed up the login process for our users.

each user has there own login (typically there domain) and a password, which again follows a set pattern....

So what's the point of requiring a login if the username and password will be provided in the form?

P.S. You mean 'their', not 'there'.

Kravvitz, i appreciate you wanting to work out the symantics of this issue with me, but my company has identified a need for this, so unless you canhelp me out i'd rather spend my time getting actual answers to my questions instead of being asked the reasoning behind it.

I question anything that looks like a security whole.

Why don't you just set up the fairly standard "Remember me" checkbox to set a cookie to remember that the user has been properly logged in?

We don't control the system, our hosting company does. So we want to pre populate the form with the users login and password and maybe in the future we'll figure out a way to automatically log them in.

Please does anyone know HOW to do this?

If both pages are on the same domain, you can use JavaScript to do this. Otherwise you seem to be out of luck.
