    Writing Cheques

    Hello,

    I'm new to the whole writing cheques thing and just wondering.. with a standard amercian cheque, am I able to change it's currency to 'pound sterlin ' instead of the default 'dollar $' ??

    You mean a check drawn on an American bank? If so I dont think so, it would have to be in US dollars.

    Your check will be cashed in whatever your account is in.

    My checks get cashed in Cdn dollars, if I wanted it in US $ I would have to open a US $ checking account.

    You can't change the currency on a check. It will be whatever the account is set up as - USD, CDN, Euros, etc.

    Some do, it depends on the bank. I get charged 25.

    Actually, the last time I cashed a pound sterling MO at my bank they just about had a heart attack! Didn't know what to do! They didnt charge me a fee but the money took a few days to clear and at the conversion rate on the day it cleared NOT the day I deposited it!

    some UK/USA banks will waive the fee, however, the UK / US Dollar ammount fluctuates wildly over a day
