    What's Your Ringtone?

    Hi,

This is inspired by another thread (at work anoyances).

What is the ringtone on your mobile phone if you have one?

I'll start of, mine is the theme from Rainbow but sometimes it does change to the Inspector Gadget. Im a kid at heart.

Used to have Love Boat and Blues Walk. Now I'm using just the standard Ring Ring. Latest craze are ringtones that imitate birds singing. Well, I'll stick with that standard one anyway.

Silent mode - ring tones should be banned.

    Mine just rings - quietly!

I hate it when the damn thing goes off when I'm out and about. I feel so damn self conscious. It doesn't matter how quietly you try to talk, you just know that somebody is ear-wigging!

My ringtone is a little composition I based on the theme of a computer game I had years ago called "Elevator".

However, I have the vibration alert on too so when I don't want the ringtone going off, I turn it off.

I almost always use vibration alert, but when I do use my ringtone, it is just one of the standard, pre-programmed tones on my mobile, nothing fancy .

Erm, my ringtone goes "Ring, Ring", like it should.

It's a PHONE for crying out loud! It's supposed to help you keep in contact with people, not show how "funkeh" you are.

If people hear me talking on the phone, that's not my problem. Everyone else doesn't seem to be bothered when they are talking so loud that I can't hear my minidisc on maximum volume.

    Still, have fun!

Picture the scene - I am travelling back to the coast on the train after a very long and tiring week in London...

The train is quiet and smooth (not one of those piss-smelling rickety jobs), the tower-blocks and slumy housing is turning into cascading green fields and the sun-set is glorious...

    I can finally relax........

    ...

    ...

"HELLO - YEAH ITS ME, KAREN - FNAR FNAR FNAR - YEAH ABOUT BLAH BLAH BLAH"

I was ready to kill I tell ya!

z7, I know exactly where you're coming from. It drives me nuts!

There was one occasion I was on the train heading into London. There was a guy sat across from me chatting all lovey-dovey into his mobile. I just assumed it was his wife (tell-tale wedding ring on left hand, you know?!). Anyway, no soon as he gets off the phone to her, he dials another number.....

"Hello honey, it's me. I won't be home from work 'til late tonight. Just been informed I have a meeting at the office. Tell (kid's name) I promise to read her a bedtime story tomorrow........."

I felt like grabbing the damn phone from him and dropping him right in it!

That's nasty. I probably would have I've a friend who has the loudest, most blatant laugh ever, and he laughs a LOT (perhaps it's because i'm such a funny guy, who knows ), so whenever he rings me up and ends up cackling down the phone everyone within 6 foot of me can hear it and stares. It's terrible.

Or placing it descretely where the sun doesn't shine

Ady - that reminds me of one recruitment agency I dealt with their 'on hold' music was this really dodgy acid-funk-jazz played REALLY loud - I had to hold the phone away from my ear!... and yes - people stared!

Whenever you are on the tram and someone picks up their mobile phone, the first thing they'll say is "Hi, I'm on the tram..."

Likewise with trains. They'll say "Hi, I'm on the train".

It just puzzles me that so much bandwidth is wasted telling people where you are all the time. If I'm on the tram and I'm talking to someone, I have no reason to tell them I'm on a tram. It doesn't matter where I am.

    Mine plays Für Elise.

The thing that irritates me most is people who talk on cell phones while they're driving, and they could be on the interstate going 40 mph ..oblivious that they have a line of traffic behind them a mile long. Grrrrrrrrrr.

Cellphones don't cause traffic congestion - people cause traffic congestion.

It appears that the Americans still haven't outlawed speaking on a hand-held device while driving. It's outlawed here (driving sales of hands-free car kits through the roof).

It is so dangerous. If you drive, and talk on a hand-held phone, you're a bloody idiot.

They have banned it in several states... New York being one of them.

I had the GodFather tone going for a while but would get weird looks all the time, especially at work!
