Great, Mac-addicts don't want you to have an Apple either. Win-Win!
I couldn't live without my iPod, as it is my only music player. I'll probably always buy iPod (as long as it's around) as I like the players and it looks slick next to my matching iBook.
I've found that most people who dislike Apple haven't used it in the last three years. OS X is a great operating system, and there are no downsides that really hold up. You may not like Apple hardware, but OS X is undoubtably the most user-friendly operating system around. Safe too.

I just recently got back from Singapore and picked up a mac mini while I was there. I have to say OS X has been very good so far.
The only thing I can complain about is that I find that the text (mostly on web sites) is harder to read and not as crisp as on my PC with clear type enabled. I'm not sure why, but meh - I'll live.

I second that, Safari renders quite nicely for me. Just download Opera for OS X.

Opera is identical (or very, very close to) on all platforms. It looks more or less like a ported application, but this is because Opera uses its own libraries for everything.
Safari is nice, but I still like Opera.

Figured as much. The one thing I kind of worry about is losing the cool Mac-specific Safari features- things like auto extract downloads and whatnot. I don't know... I think I might stick with Safari for the time being.

I love the skin of Safari a lot, as it really ascents OS X. I have my Opera nicely styled for it, lol. There was some website I found awhile back that had the toolbars, buttons, and everything.
So I now have the Safari skin on my favorite web browser.

I have to say that Macs are expensive, but in the end are well worth the money. I'm just dying to have a desktop Mac, and I'm sure I'll eventually get it.
If you're on a PC you should give something like Mandrake or Fedora a spin.

That's true- if you have a spare monitor around, the Mac Mini is a great price. If you look at all their models and compare them to other similarly-equipped PCs, it's a pretty decent price range now. They aren't as expensive as they used to be.

True, but I hate my monitor - it's old, gray and ugly. It would just spoil the fun.

I just connected my CRT up to the mini instead of my LCD and I find the text to be much clearer. Would there be any reason for this? I was going to buy a second LCD for the mini, but I might end up keeping it connected to the CRT now.

I just recently got an iMac about two weeks ago, since then I've had to reinstall the OS about 4 times. It does this weird thing where it boots up but once it gets to the gorgeous looking desktop you can't do anything but stare at the beautiful background cause there's nothing there. It could however be my fault as I've been installing mysql, php and god knows what else. I've had problems with every single computer that I have ever purchased from desktops, laptops, and now the iMac so I guess it's a common thing that comes with the territory. Overall though I like the iMac better that my windows PC, now I just wanna get one of those PowerMacs ... mmmmm
please refrain from flame baiting pleaseGoofy
