Newbie: How to charge and what to look for?

Hey,

I'm starting out a computer related site soon. I'm just considering how people charge for advertising? I've never done any charging for advertising or do anything relating to earning money thru banners or anything like that before.

Well, if someone could lead me how to charge advertising, that would be cool.

Secondly, I am currently looking for a good banner network to signup. What would be good for a new computer related site? I sould be able to earn at least 10000 impression on the second month, hopefully.

i'm not really an expert, but I dont think you should be looking to sell your own advertising on a new, small site.

try ad networks like

http://www.fastclick.com
http://www.focusin.com
http://www.contentzone.com

there are plenty more, do a forum search "best CPM" or similar, i'm sure you will find a list

Exactly. Traffic first, profit later. 1000 in a month is not going to make you a cent. You need at least 10,000 unique visitors a month and even more page views to be serious. Just start slowly and continue researching. Read some of SP's wonderful articles: http://www.ecommercebase.com
