    Monitor - resolution trouble

Does anyone know of a website where you can go and enter your url to see how your website displays in different screen resolutions and how it might appear on different monitor sizes ,etc?

I just resize my monitor to check and it works great for me.

I'm not willing to pay money for a site to do it for me when I can do it myself.

If anyone knows of a free service though, I would appreciate knowing what it is.

    Anyway, good luck Tim!

I just resize my browser window.

I'm lucky, I have a large monitor that will go up to 1600x1200 (though I keep it at 1280x1024 - next one up is too much of a strain on my eyes and I can't be bothered to change all the default font sizes!)

Anyway, if any of you want to know how a certain site looks in higher resolutions, feel free to pm or email me with the url - I won't charge you too much.

If you are looking for online or downloadable programs to check the different screen resolutions here are a few sites to check out.....just to name a few

    ANYBrowser - Viewer

Design Tip Test Your Site With WebTV

    WebTV Viewer

Browserola is a windows program that enables Web authors to see how their pages look in a variety of Web browsers without having to have those browsers installed *FYI* Browserola is no longer sold but is available for a FREE Download per the program's author, although no technical support unless you previously have registered it.

The Browser Window Sizer shows you how screen pixels are actually available for displaying a Web page in Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator using different screen resolutions.

Viewable With Any Browser Campaign has lots of links and resources that may be of interest.

BUT lastly don't forget to utilize Bobby 3.2 for accessibility of your website for those with disabilities.

    :^:^:^:^:
*** Also bookmark our very own SitePoint Advisor "westmich" online sizer because he has created his own Browser Resolution Tester
    :^:^:^:^:

BTW Don't forget this Feline Advisor as I work for any and all types of chocolate chip cookies. If they just so happen to have lots of pecans I am in chocolate chip cookie heaven.....WebKat

There are several low-tech methods of checking your site for multiple resolutions.

    1) Use this wallpaper [link] to determine the window size.

    2) If you're using Internet Explorer as your default browser then you can use this hand-dandy little Javscript to make your window the correct size:

javascript:resizeTo(640,480); (make sure to get rid of the space in javascript)
    javascript:resizeTo(800,600);

Simply create a new Favorite and paste the above code into the location field. Then, whenever you need to see the window at a certain size, simply choose that favorite.
