Question about Website Publishing

OK, so the order goes like this:

research topic -> build site -> gather traffic -> make money off of advertisements

how long does it take to get to stage 4? to start making more than $5/month.. so far i am a little bit discouraged (at the slow process) - but that doesn't mean i have given up. please ensure me that website publishing is a good career field to pursue

I wouldn't say it's a good career field.

Start it off as a hobby after your fulltime job. If you're lucky, you can move to a part time job. And if you're insanely lucky, you can then quit your part time job.

But, I wouldn't suggest it as a good career field. However, I'm sure others would disagree.

Presume this is a forum site we are talking about? Always remember there will be 101 free sites covering your ground, so before stage 4 you need to really value add for potential customers etc.

I started the first week in March 05... and everything clicked on the last week in July. Now I feel like I can SEO anything and get traffic for any website.... Dont give up..It will take some months but when it clicks....it is off the races
