    Hi

What can I use to write and compile javascript? Can Dreamweaver UltraDev do this?

    Thanks

    Hi Stewart,

Since javascript is an interpreted language (except for some pseudo-compiling done by IE), I would be very surprised if you find a compiler.

Dreamweaver, from what I've heard, will help you write javascript code, but like other WYSIWYG editors, it will also heap loads of useless and redundant code onto your page.

In other words, any ASCII editor will do. I, for example, use Notepad, cuteHTML, and occasionally Front Page Express -- all of which are free.

You can't compile javascript, it's impossible. There are encryption scripts though.

    Hi Anachros

For an 'open source' fellow, why promote mystification?

Encrypt scripts are about as good as noRightClick scripts and putting 5000 carriage returns at the beginning of the html page -- in other words, they are not worth the effort and are definitely not to be used for anything that really needs to be secure.
