I was looking at the site called trafficology & they published a theory called the Holy Grail.

In it they said that some guy was using the banner exchange program and getting good response from his own banners, he had a good design and so fort, he was also getting a 1 to 1 exchange deal somewhere.

If youve read it you probably seen his theory that putting 30 banners on his home page would increase his own banners exposures to a certain rate that traffic would come flooding in forever.

The only problem is in reality you can't do that.

You can however create a timeline that calls a javascript function that displays a new banner every 30 seconds. So to get youre 30 and more exposures all you have to do is leave your page open all day.

The company who hosts the banner exchange is the man. They'll kick you out the second they see banners every 30 seconds from the same IP. Don't think their servers/scripts don't notice. It's against their TOS's. Read up skippy.

But when you think of it, whats the problem?

Their banners are being shown all the time & thats what thier business is all about.

They're business is about branding companies and products to consumers. Not branding companies and products to an unmanned computer. Who would pay for that?

Sorry skip, but just like Ryan said, who would pay (yes, they probably do have some people paying for ad impressions; if not, it's still the same) for advertisements that nobody sees?

Yeah, there are always better ways of getting traffic.

I'd have to agree that would be nice to do that!

Its fair enough if you left your browser open all day, they might catch you. But if you left it just to your surfers, youd have a wide range of IP's and rarely a surfer would leave your page open all day. Also you could let it change every 60 instead of 30 seconds. You would still be increasing your exposures.

In that case, you'd need to find a way for them to say on your website longer.

In other words, you would like the page to automatically refresh after a set interval. Some websites do exactly that, and I never return. It's obnoxious as hell, especially when you're trying to fill out a feedback form.

There are banner scripts that will refresh only the banner every X seconds.

Its not getting the page to refresh every few seconds that just would not work.

Put the javascript function into a layer then add a timeline when a certain time goes goes by call the javascript function again & loop.

yup, aldo hide the banner from the user using layers and rotate at random intervals to really screw up the rotator detector.
