    Fastclick response time issues

    For anyone who uses Fastclick:

Have you noticed that banners and clickthroughs load very slowly with fastclick? I just signed up a few days ago, and I'm worried about fastclick slowing the overall load time of my pages. Does anyone else have this problem?

I noticed that with fastclick as well. It would take a couple seconds for their ads to load, I wrote them telling them that this isn't conducive to high CTRs

Anyways I'm no longer with Fastclick because they didn't have any good advertisers.

I'm thinking of moving away from fastclick too, as they really don't have any advertisers, and most of the time default ads are just shown.

What does everyone think of Burst?

Burst too doesn't have many campaigns available... Most of them are either .5CPM (net) or CPC...

I was happy with burst when I was with them, we switched over because their default thing wasn't very good (geeze I'm literate today).

Anyways, we're with fastclick now because we run 90% of our own ads and they let us do that from within their system...

In reply, I've personally experienced no slowness on ads from fastclick, but that may change.

I think it's just certain ads!

I think the ads that are very slow are those CPC credit card ads that must be spinning crazy on everyebody's site.

Beside those ads, all the others are as fast as any other network.

IMO burst is the best of the worst as far as ads go.

Fastclick has better member features with their control panel and all of that, but burst has the advertisers.

Again, its not great, but its better than the rest.

Although I should mention that while July was an excellent month, so far August doesn't look so hot.

I can only say good things about Fastclick.com

They have a great service and they were never late with the payment!

    Aspen,

What kinds of member features does Fastclick offer that you prefer? Is the site easier to navigate?

Multiple personal compaigns, better campaign statistics reporting, better management of different ad codes.

    What burst needs is this

    1. Separate above and below the scroll banners and provide a third one for popup/under adcodes

    2. Allow for multiple personal campaigns especially across different ad codes, if you run more than 1 site through burst you have to use the same personal campaign for both of them, and you can only have that 1 personal campaign.

If burst did this people would send more traffic through burst as they could have more control over it and also more people would sign exclusive contracts.

Right now lots of people join fastclick just for the management features and serve their fastclick defaults to burst and other companies.

In other words users should be able to set up campaigns to run on their sites just like advertisers can, they should be able to run multiple campaigns with multiple banners.

This should really only take a good programmer 1 or 2 days to complete.

    Edit:

alternatively to separating above and below the scroll banners on the adselect you could allow people to specify which way to run their personal campaigns (assuming they have multiple personal campaigns)

aspen, I am one of those people use BURST! and Fastclick for defaults. I'm just curious, what do you use for your BURST! defaults?

I used to use Fastclick too, and those defaults to Valueclick.

But Fastclick never performed well, and then started performing worse, valueclick went down to .06 CPC and that was enough of that. So I signed an exclusive 3 year with burst. I would have made more money with the extra 20% of burst revenue by signing than I would have made via fastclick and valueclick.

So right now my defaults go to amazon.com
