I was wondering if anyone has a web design site listed in a regional section in Yahoo. I was wondering if this is worth the $199 to be listed if it generates much traffic. Also, do they allow you to be listed in a near by city? I am located in Washington, but I am about 5 minutes away from Portland, Oregon. I would probably get more traffic if I was listed in the Portland section than my city (which has about 50,000 people). Thanks for any advice.

I think they would. I would just email Yahoo! and get more direct information. I'm not sure if the $199 is necessary to get listed, I think it just speeds up the process.
Spend $199 on newspaper ads instead and you'll get a better response. $199 can usually by alot of ad space in a local newspaper, advertise in the business section.
That money could be better spent elsewhere. There is an article somewhere I am sure on SP where Matt recounted their experiences of submitting to the paid section of Yahoo, I will try and dig it out.
$199 for business express can be worht it. Regional listings are generally listed higher than other commercial sites. Search Yahoo for 'web site design' and you will see what I mean.

It would be quite interesting to see what sitepoints statistics from yahoo would be, particularly wether it was worth the (from memory) $600 that they spent to have 3 sites listed in the yahoo directory... considering in all my searching at yahoo (not my primary search engine) i have only ever come across a mention of sitepoint when i actually searched for sitepoint... just to see where they were listed.

Yes. We have a Bed and Breakfast in Canyon, Texas and we were successful in gettng listed in Yahoo without having to pay the $200 but it did take some time and begging!
We have been unsuccessful in getting listed in local section for Amarillo (VERY nearby and larger town). I would love to be able to get listed in another town, but have not found the secret to that yet. If you find out how to do it let us know
