Conflict in Positioning

Hi,

I am working on a new page, and I have some pop menus with absolute positioning and a news scroller running in the main content area of the page with relative positioning. I tried using the z-index for have the menu roll on top of the news scroller, but that doesn't seem to do the trick.

Can you please give me some pointers to fix this one?

I think there was a similar thread about this problem -- as I recall the z-index wasn't working because of the JavaScript -- but if I'm completely wrong in this assumption I apologize....
