    Hi,

I am searching for a book on copywriting.
    Do you have suggestions?

What kind of material are your copyrighting?

Depending what it is, the offical processes can be as simple as filling out a form and mailing it in along with a check.

I am confused. Johan said he wanted information on "copywriting" which is, simply, writing copy. Applying for "Copyright" is an entirely different concept, and that's what jaiem was referring to. Could somebody clarify?

In the U.S. you don't need to register anything for it to be copyrighted.

... ya I was confused about the copywriting thing too, but I figured he meant applying for copyrights

Ditto. I thought copyright as in protection.

Nor in most countries, including Sweden, I believe.

Can someone clarify this for me? I've heard this before, but what are the terms? Anyone have more info on this? I asked the US copyright office and of course they wanted me to send a form and a $30 check.

Since, either the late 70's or early 80's. I forget the exact date, but any original work is automatically copyrighted upon its inception.

If you register a copyright what you're doing is you're making it easier for you to sue someone over copyright infringement, but doing so isn't required.

Along the same lines a copyright statement isn't even required, all it will do is get you more damages in court (and take the ignorance defense away from the defense.)

Guys, I'm pretty sure he's referring to copywriting - as in writing copy for ads -

Refer to his earlier thread: http://sitepointforums.com/showthrea...threadid=29828
