Which wiki engine should I run?
Hi,
I am a php programmer, looking for a wiki engine to run on my site.
Has anyone experienced any wiki engines in the past and can recommend to me?
I will be using phP 5, apache 2, mysql 4.1.13 on FreeBSD 5.4
I want to create personal training manuals on the site and have trainers contribute to the content I create and make edits.
Thanks

There are so many that I would recommend trying a few to find what you like.
Personally, I've had good experiences with mediawiki (it's what wikipedia uses - http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki ), and moin moin ( http://moinmoin.wikiwikiweb.de/ )

You dare come in the PHP forum talking about a perl wiki script!?!
j/kActually I haven't used it, so I can't say much about it, although I do find PHP's database interaction to be better than perl's (IMO) - if you're gonna be tinkering with the code that may or may not matter to you.

I prefer www.pmwiki.com
It uses flat files not a mysql database and I find the documentation and customization much easier than mediawiki.
It has better spam control than mediawiki as it allows moderation of external links (this is against mediawiki philosphy). Pro or con...user-signup is a semi-manual process not automatic...but this is not a problem for your appliaction with a small group of authorized posters.
PmWiki also has an active community and many skins to choose from (it even has a mediawiki skin) .....and a long list of established PmWikiUsers sites to view.
