    A scripting/programming language written in Perl

    Hi,I was wondering,are there any languages written in Perl?
    If so,what would be a good way to go about writing one,I am assuming it would involve a source filter right? Where are some good tutorials on source filters?

    Do you mean a completely new scripting language which is itself written in Perl - a scripting language written in a scripting language? It seems like rather a strange thing to do - Perl is already a highly accomplished scripting language, and anyone writing a new language would usually write it in C or some other compiled language for performance.

    Zope's written (mostly) in Python. If you can call DTML a scripting language...

    And Python's so much cooler than Perl

    Ooh I forgot about Zope - that's a good example. There's also Jython (or JPython) which is an implementation of Python written in Java (you can compile Jython scripts to java byte code and run them anywhere that has a Java Virtual Machine). So it has been done in the past, but you need a pretty good reason to do it.

    C is the compiled language most similar to Perl, because Perl is based on C. They are very different languages though.

    So perl and PHP are the only **good** languages :-D
    I got this part down pat:
    if($variable == value) {
    subroutine();
    libraryfunc":-D";
    }
