Anyone have success with drop shippers?

Just curious if anyone has had decent success using drop shippers...

IE: you sell products on your website, send them the orders and they ship them out.

Anyone know a reputable list of drop ship wholesalers?

    thanks

hey jim. I use to work for a company that sold as much as possible through drop shipping. It worked great, when it worked. I mean..it's the perfect solution for a small business - very little overhead. I have, however, seen some disasterous nightmares. We did alot of drop ship business with netmarket.com, and they have a bad habit of not telling you they're out of stock on products, and then you just keep on selling this product that there are none of, and they don't have plans of getting anymore - That made for some really unhappy customers

Anyhow, almost all drop shipping problems i've seen happen around christmas, so i think as long as you just stock what you sell over the holiday drop shipping is a great thing

We use one that has a $50 minimum order to dropship. Any orders that are less than that we have to order from them, get it then ship it out the same day. Can't give out the name though, that's 75% of the battle.

I used a company called Truprice they sell Sports Shoes great service had one or two slow deliverys but they always chased up the shipping company and got it sorted 99% of the time every thing went great very friendly I had 8 months doing drop shipping with them and done very well but packed it in to start my own business full time.
Not sure how or even if I am aloud to put the web site on here but I am sure you can find them the name is Truprice.

Many drop shippers are in the business to make money off small business owners, meaning they jack up their prices so you can get only slim margins. As such you're usually better off buying from a real wholesaler or a manufacturer directly.

In the end with alot of drop shippers you'd make more with an affiliate program.

I would probably stay away from dropshippers that are just in the business of drop shipping.

Look for an actual supplier/distributor of the products you are wanting to sell. Some "real" suppliers will drop ship for you, for a small fee. This is great for small businesses because you start off having your supplier ship everything, and as time goes on you might want to start stocking some of your more popular items.

Many real suppliers will also provide access to stock & price feeds. Some have EDIs that you can electronically send them your order too. This is what I do, and it is fantastic. Most of the mundane tasks are automated, like my stock is synced to the supplier's warehouse stock, and orders are sent to the warehouse for shipment within 15 minutes of being accepted by our system. As a small business, alot of this stuff like live stock, very very fast order fulfillment, etc would not be possible if our supplier did not offer these services. Not to mention that it allows me to focus more on the business, customer service, etc when I don't have to manually do all those mundane tasks anymore.

For dropship suppliers, check www.worldwidebrands.com, but they require you to buy a subscription. A free resource I know is www.dropshiparea.com, but I have not success of using dropship suppliers so far.

That post/list is over two years old. I noticed many of the links are dead.

Nothing better then the Free Ebook provided by Worldwide Brands and their Directory. I can honestly say that the 70 bucks I spent there was the best money 70 dollars I have ever spent.
-You get what you pay for, their drop ship directory by Chris Malta should be much more then they charge for it.

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but I agree, this resources is worth WAY more than the $70 it costs.
