    Unix commands

    How do you list to see what application or task is running?

    Then how do you kill the task?

    //Lists what processes are running
    ps -ax

    //Lists what processes are running that have searchterm in their names
    ps -ax | grep searchterm

    With the first one you'll get something like
    Code:
     PID  TT  STAT      TIME COMMAND
     7589  ??  DsJ    1:28.97 syslogd -s
     7610  ??  IsJ    0:34.72 cron
     7621 ?? SsJ 0:50.16 sendmail: accepting connections (sendmail)
     7625  ??  IsJ    0:26.30 /usr/sbin/sshd
    To kill a process do a kill PID where PID is the PID listed in the ps -ax results.
    Please don't PM me with questions.
