I think this thread has run its course...
Many of us in the world have chosen to follow faiths that do not include Christianity. There is an intolerance that is unbearable in this world towards those of us who chose to deny that the Christian church is the only way.
Jesus Christ did a many great things and was a great man, this is historically written. However none of his miracles have been corroborated outside the Bible, though other actions have been. This leads me to be the hyperbole is at work and if you believe otherwise, so be it. I find it hard to believe why, the followers of a man of tolerance and justice would find it so hard in their heart to find tolerance towards others as well... I am not speaking of the individuals, many individuals have found tolerance but I am speaking of the organizations the individuals are part of which have not.
Reading threads like this, always further convince me that I have taken the right path in denying the following of Modern Christianity. This doesn't mean I don't follow the ideals that Jesus Christ put forth 2,000 years ago.
In my religion the greatest law is that we harm no living thing (plants or animals) except as humanly necessary or as needed to protect the earth as a whole. We believe that each has their own path and are free to walk along it. We also believe that the actions you talk in this world will be returned to you.
For beliefs such as the ones I hold, millions people (9 million in the inquisition, many more during colonization) have been persecuted and killed or subjected to slavery since Christianity came to power in the European influenced nations of the world.
Before you start criticizing the path someone else has chosen, look within your own heart and see how you can make sure the injustices done in your god's name aren't repeated today, tomorrow or ever. Only then will you be truly tolerant.
