    how many business name changes?

For some reason I always feel compelled to rebrand and reinvent myself during major changes. I'm going to be opening and art gallery next week, which will be occupying the same space, and I'm thinking about updating my design studio name & image. If I do change the name it will be the third name change in about 6 years.

Unit d Productions > Coco Robot Studios > Added Sugar Creative (still debating the latest switch)

I was wondering if anyone else has done something similar and what was the progression of your company name(s)?

I'm confused. And I'm not even a client.

You would lose some clients and definatly lose "name recognition".
    But it does imply "freshness"
Also might make some people wonder if you are avoiding or trying to hide something by changing names.

Well there is no real "name recognition" to lose, and I wouldn't lose any clients since we would send out a mailer to all our clients notifying them of the name change.

Its definitely not a matter of hiding something, more out of boredom with our current moniker. We're looking to expand into markets outside of Boston, and we are adding some new staff. So I'm thinking of a complete renaming & rebranding to start fresh in the new direction we want to go.

I actually find it shocking there are no other designers who have ever changed their company name for one reason or another.

Nope, when I created my business name, I was looking at the larger picture. I used a nonsense word that I could create value with, and avoided using anything region specific for if it ever gets bigger.

Wow ... I guess everyone is just smarter than I am.

or they just don't get as bored as easily as I do.
