    Angry Phising directory

I've just received a mail from my host stating that
i have an ebay phising directory in my file manager (cpanel)

someone actually gained acess to my cpanel and placed it there..there's even a "sex" directory..

and my host has suspended my site......has this happen to anyone before?

i'm quite mad now..didn't even realize it..

I had a similar experience before. Worst, 2 weeks ago, someone got access to my FTP, and from there uploaded his spam script and database, and used my domain name to send spam. There were afterwards over 6GB of bounce-back emails to my domain name.

Sorry for the duplicate post, but I was just wondering if you have any script running on your site? I had PHPNuke installed and it looks like that the 'hacker' got access from one of the vulnerabilities of PHPNuke.

If you are using any open source cms(especially phpNuke) make sure to have it up to date because those scripts are well known for their security holes.

And don't be surprised by the hacking attempts. I have a colocated server for my sites, and I get more than 150 attempts per day.

Ouch - hope you get it all sorted out. I have heard of that happening before but I have direct experience with it. Nikolas' advice is good for this one.

Yes it's true. And the real problem is that these kids are creating a big overhead on the server. Yesterday as someone was 'hiting' the server, the cpu was in 99% use for about 45 minutes, and all the visitors to my sites got no pages....
