    Developer or Designer?

What's the difference between a "Web Developer" and a "Web Designer"?

Basically applied for a job and they said they want a developer not a designer. I'm lost. Aren't they the same?

A developer usually deals more with server-side coding, database creation/maintenance, etc.

A designer usually deals with the look and feel of a site. Basically the side of things that a user sees.

There can be (and usually is) some overlap, but if they're looking for more of a developer and you want to do Photoshop, HTML, and CSS all day long you should probably look elsewhere.
