    Big decrease in Google rank?

Just wondering if anyone is noticing a fairly big decrease in their rankings in the www2.google.com results.

From my own experience and others I've talked to our sites are showing a big decrease almost across the board and in 3rd party sites with high link popularity. I'm trying to figure out if it's just a temporary thing or if Google is adding more of the hilltop ranking algorithm to their index.

All votes and comments are greatly appreciated to help try and figure this out.

I'm not sure where I was before, but I'm currently on top of my category...

1 of 12400 sites in the category.

how are you seeing your page rank via www2?

Are you just looking at your place in the results? I'm sure they added a few millions pages this crawl so those could be new sites.

or am I missing something and you can see your actual page rank?

You can view your pagerank with the Google toolbar, which for me and quite a few other people has dropped during this update process.

I'm sure they've added quite a few new pages but it seems as though sites that had been sticking are being hit this index according to quite a few people I've talked to which is why I'm wondering if they've added another layer of the hilltop algorithm to their index.

wouldn't the toolbar still be based of the current index, not the new-as-of-yet-not-updated index?

I haven't seen my rank drop at all, and I know for a fact the toolbar isn't working off the new index because sites that are in the new index don't have a page rank yet as seem by my toolbar

Your right, the pagerank isn't from this index but the from the last update, however that is when a few sites lost a bit of their pagerank when google changed their algorithm which is why I'm wondering if thy've changed it to represent more of the hilltop system this time around.

For how I'm judging I've mainly looed at sites this update that had been sticking previously dropping.

I have increased my rankings dramatically with the following keywords:
buffer underrun: now #1, before not in top 100
cd burning: now #6, before #5
cd:s now #6, before not in top 100

this was just a few keywords I checked out.

When will google update their searcj to these results?

    Wow - cheers for that.

Through various portal affiliations I am now 7 of the top 10 in my number 1 search phrase, including the top three!

On www2 I am #1 on my top keywords. On the OG (original Google), I am not even in the top 50!!!

    Weird

I wouldn't be too worried about this update so far as it seems to be incomplete. www2's database has still been changing so it looks as though either they had technical problems or they are in the process of updating something on their end (although I'm not sure of this).

Assuming google uses the same algo that is in play right now at www2 you should have your #1 ranking in the August update.
