    Outlook Problems...

Outlook 2000 (on win 2k sys.) wont start. The splash screen displays, and Outlook is using about 96% of the cpu and it just sits there eternally!!
I have reinstalled, twice! All other programs are still working fine (even other components of office)...

    Any ideas anyone?

Tried the knowledgebase, its best idea was "free some space on your harddisk"...yeah right! 27gb free aint enough for Outlook isnt it!!!

Anyway the strangest thing happened when i left it just to see what would happen, suprise suprise it started! Whats more it is starting fine everytime now...

It could be a corupt or too large outlook.pst file (2Gb limit I think) You should find it in
    C:\Documents and Settings\##your logon##\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

either Copy the file out of that dir or rename it then try opening outlook again. If that doesn't work reinstall agian. If you can get it reinstalled you might be luck and be able to get some of the info out of the corupt .pst file.

I got the SAME error on Outlook 2000 in Win98 on my old computer. I know have Outlook 2002 on Win2K and haven't had any problems. I never did figure out the cause and ended up using Outlook Express.
