Using headphones and speakers at once?

    Hello all,
It's me agian with another crazy idea.

Is there any way to have sound come from my speakers and the headphones when the headphones are pluged into them?

I'm thinking it's the speakers that cause the sound to stop when headphones are inserted but I'm hoping it's not because that would be hard to change.

So is it possible? Oh, and I don't want any cable splicing involved! There not my speakers

    Thanks,
    Justin Sampson

Well, I think you can get like a double adapter thing that goes into your sound out bit on your system. However, I don't even knwo if it is possible. Some strange idea!

Thanks, I'll have a look for one.

Actually what I was doing was taking speackers ment for a portable walkmen (they have a headphone jack on them) and plugging that into the headphone plug on my speakers. It works perfect but I can't get them both to play at once.

I've been looking for a double adapter lately as well. I just got a new set of wireless headphones, they do up to 50 metres away! And I want to have them share the sound with my speakers rather than take it lol.

They seem quite hard to get hold of.

    simple

    easy fixed.
Just walk into you local dick smith/tandy whatever shop and get a y-splitter cable. Has a male 3.5mm plug on one end and braches out into two 3.5mm sockets. Also can get all in one solid units.

I don't know where you live, but in Canada and USA Radio Shack is the place to find what you're looking for. You're guaranteed to find a splitter cable and depending on the size of the store you should find an adapter too.

Just a note, you might want a splitter cable instead of an adapter since the adapter tends to be bulky behind your computer and most models will block the other connections on the sound card (mic, line out, etc.)

Actually Tandy and Radio Shack are the same company...

They probably use the Tandy brandname outside of North America.

In the U.S. you can find one in just about every mall around.
