    Layout Problems with 'clear'

I'm working on a page layout at the moment that effectively has a menu on the left, and a main section on the right that uses tabs for navigation.

I have the left div set at 250px wide, and a main content div covering the remaining (with a left margin of 250px so it doesn't overlap the left menu).

I'm using 'css simple tabs' as a guideline (from silverorange labs).

Now, all of this is working fine, except for the fact that the content that goes just below the tabs uses a 'clear:both' to ensure it doesn't overlap the tabs themselves. The problem I'm having is that it's not only clearing the tabs, but also the left menu - so it's showing right at the bottom of the page.

I've been playing around with this for a while now, but not being an expert in CSS, it's got me a bit stumped.

How can I get it just to ignore the left menu but still clear the tabs?

I have attached the code if anyone needs to see what I mean.

    Check this out:

In your CSS/HTML, I don't know why you need "clear" to begin with. Also, you should post a screenshot of what your problem is. Yeah I'm too lazy to download them and link them.

Basically, if I don't do the clear, both the tab menu and submenu overlap each other.

I'll check out the tutorial anyway to see if there is a better way to do it, thanks.
