    downloading your website files

I'm not sure that I understand exactly what you are asking. I have FrontPage, but I do not use it, I hand-code text files. I think that it is for creating web pages, not file transfer. VBScript is a client-side scripting language. Maybe you are looking for something like a download manager eg.: http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/ or an FTP app like http://www.coreftp.com They can get your files from your server.

Can now get Download dialog - but not for .zip

Thanks for reply - its not me that wants to download the files - its my users..

Since crying for help I have managed to find out how to download an .exe file eg create hyperlink with FrontPage then edit it. Just put file name in Address field.

Clicking on hyperlink then displays much loved (for me) download dialog box (with obvious warning about .exe file).

However, other types of file eg .zip file dont display the download dialog box - just window with headings like "Folder tasks", "other places"..

    I'm obviously missing something...

You might include the instruction: "Right click an choose Save target as..."

    Depends on file extensions

    Thanks figbeam...

That works - and I think I have a clearer idea of what is happening:

The browser (in case IE) is looking at the extension of the file and deciding whether to:

    1. display download dialog (.exe, .dll files)
    2. display file text (.txt)
    3. open window to extract files (.zip)

There must be a way of overiding this since I download many .zip files.

I just wanted all files to be downloaded. I can get by for now but hopefully will find the solution other folks seem to be using.

    and finally ...

The above behaviour in my previous reply only happened within FrontPage. When I ignored this and added hyperlinks to my site for zip file I got the download dialog I couldn't get in FrontPage!!!!

    Thanks for all suggestions.
