Hey all,

Just thought I'd ask some advice on this scenario.....

Basically just graduated from uni, trying to fullfill a dream of starting my own business. Just got the office and ordered a large proportion of my budget on computer equip from www.tiny.com.

I have waited about 18-20days for delivery, so called them yesterday to cancel as was fed up of waiting. I was told then not to cancel and that the order was due for dispatch Friday. Woke up this morning and found out the compny have gone bust! Not only don't I know whether I am getting the money back, but I don't know if I have any remaining budget to buy replacements? Any advice? :'(

By the way the dirty rats have still got their site live enabling them still to receive money for possible not-knowing customers!

yeah, this is pain. One guy on another forum i use works there, he's _not_ happy to say the least. As i understand it any harware orders ready to roll will still be delivered provided ou can show payment. If you have paid on a Credit Card and aren't getting the products you should be able to claim from the card company.

That is seriously not funny - did you use a credit card to order?

Contact your credit card company and explain it to them... Unless your credit card company sucks, you will probably get all of your money back.

I used a credit card but I'm not sure if they cover the whole purchase or just up to a limit such as £250-£500, finding out some more tomorrow so fingers crossed

Contacted the card company today and I'm covered (PHEW!). The funny thing was when I order the computers etc they were on debit card, but they couldn't process it so had to pay by credit card. Luckily as its the credit card that offers insurance.

I bought one of their laptops (refurbished) locally from another stockists and I've had it for about 6 or so months now. Surprisingly it's still working...

But to be honest, Tiny (bought over by Time) screwed a lot of their customers prior to Time buying them out, so I'm not surprised they've gone bust. Should have happened a lot sooner, now they've taken Time down with them (again)

But serisiously though, there just isn't a market out there today for domestic customers. I build my PC myself, and I can build a half decent PC for under £450, so what incentives are there to buy one huh? Not for the warranty anyways, which is usually a complete waste of paper.

I build my own PCs and I know a lot of other people build their own as well. I tend to find that the sort of people who buy a PC, they're either buying their first PC (ie Young family), or it's the older generation (Old Aged Pensioners) that buy a PC.

But there just isn't the market now, like there was 10 years ago... The first PC I bought cost me £900 and I swore I would never buy another one, and I haven't since. My advice? Don't buy, but build

Yeah I totally agree with you. My home PC I built myself, much more cost effective and made to suit my needs. If it wasn't for a clause in my insurance that stated that I basically had to buy a recognised brand/maintained by a comp I would of def done custom build.

Also apparently the complaints/aftercare service deteriorated in relation to outsourcing their call center I heard? I had to phone 5 times over 2 days just to check the status of my order at one stage as the call center could'nt access th UK database. Like you said as well the mkt just isn't there anymore, PC's have really hit rock bottom.

Don't forget to cancel your tiny direct debit (warranty service) if you have it as I'm sure that won't cease although the company has.

I am sure they will pursue you to the grave. It's always different when you owe them.

Sounds like the tax man I'm paying it through a debt collection agency, so surely Tiny must employ them, but won't have the money to employ them, and they will stop coming round?

I doubt it, They will probably have sold the debt to the collection agency who are working on 'behalf' of tiny.
