Text Links at the bottom of page

I think the text links at the bottom of the page may look better if presented in a different style.

I appreaciate the need for it to stand out over the rest of the text at the bottom of the page but i don't think BLCOK CAPITALS is the way to do it there.

The navigation is not presented in capitals anywhere else in the site so I think some consistency is lost.

How about using lowercase but with the BOLD tag?

    Just my 2c

I disagree, not to mention the fact that I don't really think it makes a difference either way.

I agree, I really dislike the use of all-capitalized words in any website. I find it visually annoying and also amateurish.

You're right, it doesn't really make a difference. It was just a thought thats all....

Design is very subjective and for me, it would just finish it off if it were presented differently.

Right, now I've got that out of my system back to the day job

Hey, nicely intergrated with the rest of the site now. It's good to see the team take on board constructive feedback!

One last thing, is the media kit link supposed to be so speacial that it doesn't have to have the underline when you hover over it?

Tommy Lai, 'Mediakit' does have an underline.

'Home' and 'SitePoint.com', however, don't underline and color change like the rest upon hovering over them with the mouse. Is there as special reason to that?

'Mediakit' definitely doesn't have an underline for me but the rest are working fine. I've got the color change too.

    IE5.5 on Win2K

This sounds like one of those funny browser bugs to me. If you enter 'web hosting' in Google with IE5 then webhostdir.com comes up 7th in the results. Try it in IE5.5 and it jumps up to 5th!! It can also move around for Macs too!

If you work out what the problem is let me know. I've never ever managed to pin this one down, and there's no reason why the underline isn't working for me

I bet if you look, the ones with no underlines on hover are the ones that you personally have visited lately.

This means the a:visited pseudo-class is being given precedence over the a:hover pseudo-class. I have no guarantee as I didn't look at the file but I am pretty sure that the CSS lists them in the order of link, hover, active, visited which would give visited the dominance on any link. Since visited is not underlined it overrides hover.

Ahh, now that makes sense. It's just that I haven't visited the Media Kit today. Last week maybe

Unless you changed it manually, IE defaults to a 30 day history. This is what it bases visited links on. If the link is in the History, it is marked as visited.

That's pretty cool, and in some situations it might actually be useful, but like this it just makes everyone either think you made a mistake or there is a browser bug, even though you intentionally made it that way.

Although I didn't really care, they do look better now.
