Local Apache server not liking php extensions?

I have Apache, PHP & Mysql installed as a local test server on my windows box. I have been trying for awhile now to get GD2 working. It's running php 4.4. In php.ini I uncomment out the gd2 extension and then restart the server and it still won't work. Am I doing something wrong? The files exist and everything.

What is the error you are getting? Is it missing DLL's? If so, check your extensions directory and point it to wherever your extension DLL's are, usually C:\PHP\extensions\.

Did you use the Installer to install PHP? Or did you download the ZIP package?

If you used the Installer it is not bundled with any modules. In which case, do the following:
    1) Uninstall PHP installation.
    2) Download ZIP package from www.php.net/downloads
    3) Extract ZIP package to a location of your choice.
    4) Ensure php.ini is in C:\WINDOWS and properly configured for your server.
    5) Ensure Apache is configured to load the correct PHP module from the correct location.
    6) Reload Apache.

After step 6, everything should work fine.

Someone really should sticky a note regarding the Windows Installer and extensions.

The installer, and I think ZIP package as well, both come with an install.txt file that tells how as well.

The ZIP package does come with an install.txt. It is really simple to install on Windows, just read the file.
