I hate Insert also... but I can't get rid of it since I occasionaly need to use Linux vi over SSH.

By the way, although I agree that the insert key can be a PITA, I'm with the Scroll lock voters, but like Young Twig, I have a bunch of keys that are just as shiny as when my keyboard was new!

Also, Pause/Break has been (and still might be) used often in PC games to (gasp!) pause the game.

I would just like to say I really miss my Windows key. Why they didn't throw one in Thinkpads I have no idea.

    Worthless/Useless buttons?
Now i know how many people in here like to buy low usability keyboards and hate buttons on it, and sometimes "torture" them with tools
Why not to create YOUR ONLY EXCLUSIVE and MOST CONVENIENT keyboard that makes you feel happier? Who knows... maybe it's time to find someone who can do so-called "keyboard modding" for you

Num Lock. In fact, that whole set. I don't think I've ever needed to use it.

Yeah, but atleast IBM has a utility that allows you to set some other key as Windows key. I use the right Alt key as my Windows key.

I cast my vote for F8 or Scroll Lock.

Doesn't Ctrl+Insert paste the contents of the clipboard? Either way, it still is annoying when you start to overlap what you've already written.

The keyboards at my old school had the power/hibernate/wake up buttons just below the Delete/End/Page Down buttons. You wouldn't believe how many times I turned my computer off when really I wanted to press delete!

What utility is this (I was wondering there had to be something like this around)? Chances are I probably uninstalled it, heh.

I took some keys off my keyboard, specifically:
    insert;home;pageup;pgdown;end;delete;scroll lock;pause/break;prnt screen

Was cleaning my keyboard and forgot where they went (cause I never use them). I did put 'print screen' back in though (about 3 years after I took them out), after I had to use a screw to take a screen shot.

Also ctrl, alt, win and that drop down thing from the right side of space bar were removed, my hand hit them too often for my liking.

I'll get new puters, but I keep the same keyboard, it's cool to have blank keys (all the letters/numbers wore off). Makes for some humor when someone (like my comp ilit sister) tries to use my comp.

I did something similar to this last year, I mistakenly switched the * and / keys in the number pad section after cleaning it ... took me a while but I finally realized it after trying to compile some code and the compiler said ?????? to all the / in the code..

Personally I use the number pad section a LOT.

I do too when I'm entering lots of numbers in quick succession (i.e. doing my taxes). Otherwise, the regular number keys are just fine for me

My job used to entail entering thousands of prices for various products. I used the Num Lock and those numbers so much I about killed those keys.

So yes there are uses for it!

Good gawd, used to sit there all day and use the number pad.

Data entry just plain sucks, but hella worse w/o a number pad.

Num lock may not be pressed often, but I use my keypad constantly.

I too hit my caps lock key by accident but I have used it.
I sometimes use it when typing SQL code (lots of caps) to save my fingers from using shift a lot or when typing in some CD keys during install.

I hate my F Lock key on my Logitech keyboard. If it is off (default) the F12 key opens my My Music folder which is very annoying when I'm using Dreamweaver!

Alt Great (Alt Gr) was one that I never saw the point of until the Euro () came into being.

Eck.. I hated F-lock more than anything.
I tossed my multimedia keyboard because of that and the fact it felt so damn cheap (MS KB).
Gotta love thy plain, white MS Ergo kb.
