windows 98 and color problem - can it be fixed?
I have a Compac Presario 7471 that is in need of help. A friend was
"helping" me one day to try to get this computer to work faster. She
deleted some files that open when you turn on the computer. She didn't
think they should automatically open every time the computer is on.
Now the computer is missing a color file or something as the pictures on the
internet are now produced in dots.
Can this problem be fixed? The computer is loaded with Windows 98.

Erm, perhaps a silly question, but if you right-click on your desktop (anywhere except on a file or link!), select Properties from the menu and click the Settings tab, is it set to '16 color' or '256 color' under 'Color quality'? If it is, change this to 'True color' or 'Highest' or whatever the top option is called and this should solve your problem.

Have tried your suggestion and am sorry to say it didn't work. The only choises for colors are "2" or "16". There isn't a listing for true colors or "256". Any other ideas?

You need to reinstall the driver from the CD which must be provided with the vendor, if that doesn't works for you, you will have to get it replaced with a new graphics card.
Hope this helpsBuild your outsourcing strategy now!!
