Gran Turismo 3 thoughts
OK...So I held out for about 3 hours playing this game while I did work.
Sat down and decided to watch the entire thing without hitting the skip button.
The intro was astounding. They blended CG and live action shots of an engine being "combusted". The internal part I mean. They basically had a camera move through a racecar engine as it was starting up. Lots of flames and smoke and mist, metal and chrome.
Very cool.
It kept going and started playing some "demos" of the racing. I can't freaking believe that it was not real pictures. Plus the soundtrack in the background was a wacked out version of Lenny Kravitz's "Are you Going My Way".
Very cool.
Once that was done, I started playing. As I mentioned before, I'm not much into racing games so I might have overworked this game in my head. It was fun to play and the realism is incredible. But I only played 2 or 3 games before turning it off and switching to Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. Now, (sowen), let me say that I not disappointed with GT3. I plan on playing it more than I did for sure. I'm just hooked on Gauntlet right now.
I did not play the "arcade version" which lets you work your way through the various cars and tracks. I only played the quick version which lets you race once. I think that this game would be far more enjoyable with a few mates over and some beer. There is a satellite system called the "iLink" that allows you to play with up to 6 people in one game. How amazing is that?
I'll give you more thoughts in this thread once I've played it more.Adobe Certified Coldfusion MX 7 Developer

::desire for GT3 crashes and burns::
Well ... not completely. I still plan on buying it very soon -- I love the entire Gran Turismo series. I'm just in awe of how you put it down so easily to play Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. Even if I was in the middle of a game and I got GT3 (or any GT game) I don't think I'd stop playing GT for a while. But, alas, that's just me. I have a question though. Is GT3, in all respects, a full game? I've heard that it's not as full as it's predecessors, like it's a small (demoish game) meant to hold-over GT fans until a full version is out. If I'm completely wrong here don't flame me,, but I'm just curious.

Remember folks...I'm not that much of a racing game fan. So my thoughts won't be quite inline with yours.
Yes it is a full game (as far as I can tell). It's got heaps and gobs of songs to listen to, it's got over 150 cars and tons of tracks.
I'm sure it's really good and all. Like I said though, I am hooked on Gauntlet right now. I DO look forward to playing it more though.Adobe Certified Coldfusion MX 7 Developer

Thanks for that Creole
I am now itching more than ever!! As you say, you are either a race fan or your not. Personaly I can't stand fighting games (Teken-esk). What's Gauntlet??? is it the same thing that was out for the spectrum oh so many years ago? Hmm.. I am off a searchin' on my shiny new Cable Modem
. Back soon...

It's a gorgeous game and plays wonderfully. My only beef? The computer A.I. Still stinks and the opposing cars still never really challenge you for postion on the road. Other than that, it's near flawless tho'...

My boyfriend is loving that game. He says it's very realistic in regards to handling.
He also loves Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero (I think that's what it's called). I actually play him in this one and it's great.

Tell me about it. I'm always trying to knock him offroad or into a wall. lol.
Xtreme Racer is more of street racing but exaggerated to some extremes. It's great to play against the computer or with a physical opponent.
I recommend that one a lot. The other GT3 I don't play, but my boyfriend does and can't get away from it.

Hey Nephthys...
I just noticed that you're from S. Florida? Where at? I used to live just outside of Tampa in a town called Brandon.Adobe Certified Coldfusion MX 7 Developer
