A dosa is a thin, crispy crepe made from fermented rice, very popular both at home and in restaurants in South India. It may be served plain with chutneys such as coconut chutney, sambar, curry or gravy or with alu masala folded inside; this latter dish is known as masala dosa

Here in Vegas, there is one buffet that has "all you can eat" cold shrimp. Heavenly! Also the Chinese restaurants here have a dish called "Shrimp with walnuts". Very big shrimp served with glazed walnuts and a creamy sauce. My favorite restaurant gives a portion of 32 shrimp. To die for..........

They have a lunch buffet for $8.99 and a dinner buffet for $11.99 with the shrimp at each one. This is at our favorite local casino hotel. Strip hotels are MUCH more expensive, of course, than hotels/casinos that cater to us locals. The buffets featuring this are at the Gold Coast which is closer to the Strip and the Sun Coast which is in an upscale suburb called Summerlin. We go to the Sun Coast buffet twice a month. Since we gamble there, we get 2 for 1 buffet coupons every month - one for my husband and one for me.

How can that be profitable? I could eat more than $8.99 worth of shrimp any day.

Buffets are considered "loss leaders" to get you into the hotel. Then you inevitably start gambling and they make their money back. Unless of course you are controlled gamblers like we are.

Egor, not every buffet has the cold shrimp feature!
