    Argument passing in PHP

Recently I have been noticing, more and more websites use URLs in the following form

    http://www.test.com/val1
    http://www.test.com/?val1
    http://www.test.com/val1/val2/val3
    http://www.test.com/val1-val2-val3

    instead of

    http://www.test.com/show.php?arg1=val1
    http://www.test.com/show.php?arg1=va...val2&arg3=val3

where the script name is "show.php" and arguments as arg1, arg2 and arg3

Can anyone here tell me how to achieve that effect by shortening the URL and avoiding "?" and "arg1=" ?

    Thanks in advance.

I posted a thread on this a while back:

Unfortunately it recently came to light that the technique I recommended doesn't work with google for some reason. There are links to information about this on the thread and it's well worth reading up on the options.
