Earnhardt Jr!!!!!
NASCAR fans!! Was that not a great ending to that race at Daytona last night? WOOhoo!! Go Earnhardt. Bobby Labonte putting on the moves trying to power past Michael Waltrip...Waltrip throwing those nice blocks....yeah, baby! It was a day at the races! Topped off by that signature Earnhardt Sr. "do-donuts-in-the-infield" move. Like father, like son!

It does because I say so
Nah, each to their own. I'm just not a big footie fan - never have been, and what with having a petrol-head as a husband it's kind of rubbed off!Saz: Naturally Blonde, Naturally Dizzy!

sorry, folks. No other racing can match up to NASCAR. NASCAR is one of a kind. It's a heroes sport. Not even Soccer.....Oh my God, I mean "football"...could have anything in comparison to NASCAR.

NASCAR's definitetly the big thing here in the states. No doubt the NASCAR drivers are heroes in their own way, risking their lives for the sport (RIP Dale Sr. - you're missed).
Personally, I prefer the technicalities of road course racing over ovals. Formula 1, LeMans, British Touring Cars. The F1 pit crews are double (guessing numbers) the size of the NASCAR bunch, with good pit times less than 7 sec. IMHO the pinnacle of team effort in motorsport. I read somewhere that F1 is second only to football/soccer for popularity on a global scale.
Although they don't race at the speeds of NASCAR & F1, I love watching the touring cars: lots of contact, block passing etc. Plus as I understand it the winning drivers get weight added to the car as a handicap. Keeps things interesting.
then there's the dirt, ...oooh rally...
I envy the Europeans: F1, rally, lemans, touring cars, the Swiss Alps, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Paris, Pamplona,...just hop on a train.
Maybe its time for a vacation!

F1 Pit Crew - 2 jack men (one at the front, one at the back); 1 'lolly-pop' man (the guy with the 'stop/go' sign); 3 guys on each wheel; 2 on the re-fuelling hose; one either side to clean the side-pods (one of which also wipes the driver's visor); fireman at the back and a guy with the starter in case the driver stalls. By my calculations that makes 21! What is it NASCAR get? 6?
Isotope, I have to agree with you about F1 being the pinnicle of motorsport, but then I'm extremely biased and also oozing bags of enthusiasm for it right now as we are getting ready to head off to Silverstone tomorrow for the British GP. 7th year on the trot for me now and I still get excited!!!!Saz: Naturally Blonde, Naturally Dizzy!

Slow but steady wins the race!

Slow but steady wins the race!I thought I was the only Rudd fan! I love Ricky Rudd, he has been my favorite racer ever since he drove the #5 Tide car - I miss him being his own team, but he's doing fine now. Go Rudd!
