    table widths as percents %

I've seen plenty of sites that use percentages in their tables. I a little bit. And I really want to stress tiny. Sometimes I see sites using it and I don't understand why or how it works.

One example is http://www.mm2c.com/ . When I opened it in DW4, it said that the tables down the middle had a width of 98%. How can that be? It doesn't take up 98% of the screen.

Can anyone help me understand, or lead me to an explanation somwhere?

    Thanks

err didnt read the article but with percentages, any percent is out of the area it's in. so if its a main table, its a percent of the window. if it's inside another table, its a percent of the outer table size. if it's inside two tables, its a percent of the innermost table.

That's how I felt when I discovered it.
