    No new articles

How come the number of new articles are becoming less and less frequent on SitePoint?

When I found SitePoint there were new articles at least every few days...

They depend on people like us to write them and this time of year is a slow one. Ironically I will be submitting an article in a few days. Hope you guys read it.

I have submitted an article, but it hasn't been published. I don't blame anyone since I'm not a native English speaker and I bet my style is not that flawless. Still waiting for 2-3 weeks to be told "nay" didn't make me too happy, so I thnk I'll cool down for a while (perhaps forever). I'm in the forums since I love the community and I think I have what to learn and teach others, but no more article writing from my part.

I'd love to see more articles indeed

It about processing gateways. It explains what they are/do and compares some of the bigger players. It also explains how to choose the right one for a website. It's 22 pages in Microsoft word so it's almost a short novel.

I've also started my third article as well but I won't comment on that until it's almost ready to go.

You shouldn't give up. Get some feedback on why it wasn't published and give it another go.

I've been tossing the idea around of writing about something like "Input Validation for Web Applications 101" or something of that nature. It would discuss the dangers of not writing secure code, examples of bad things that can happen, and finally code examples and resources to do it right in PHP,ASP.NET, and JSP.

    Would there be any interest?

You'll have to email them and see I guess. Look at the current articles to see the 'acceptance' quality.

Enigmatic. Wonder what the heck you guys will be doing. Better not be happening while I'm at the lake this weekend!

All this talk makes me want to write an article. Could be interesting.

The problem with trying to write an article for SitePoint is that they already have tons of articles on most easy to write subjects. Everything good to write about has been taken up, there are fewer and fewer ideas for writing I bet.

Having written 12 articles for SitePoint, it is "likely" - given the following.

    - You know what you're talking about.
    - You know how to write.
    - You can follow styling guidelines (everyone forgets this or that, but generally follow them).
    - You are covering a subject SitePoint is interested in (contact them first to make sure).
    - You agree to and follow their other rules, such as the period of exclusivity, etc.
    - Your article is not covering something exactly how it has already been covered.

If you can check all that off, most likely it'll be published. Of course, I am speaking unofficially, but that's my experience as an author.

Based on my experience with SP about article I'd say this is excellent advice.

With technology and the IT Web landscape constantly developing and changing I can't imagine there ever being a shortage of topics to write about. Heck, even the "easy" topics have plenty of room for writers. My article in January was the first article published in the ecommerce category in almost 2 years! And ecommerce is almost as old as the World Wide Web.

I guess that I should look at submitting some articles, I have plenty. I've submitted a few articles to SitePoint, but they've all been rejected for various reasons. A few of the reasons I didn't quite comprehend, but that's me. They got a great number of hits and duration on my website....

I have a plan for a unique article that I'd like to submit to SitePoint, but it seems they're too picky for me.
