transfering multiple ranked pages to 1 new page

if i have 2 or 3 different PR4 pages and i merged them all into 1, better page, would the PR from all those previous pages be passed onto the new, unranked page? if i had 10 PR4 pages, and 301'ed them all to a new page, would ALL of their PR pages be passed on, possibly resulting in a PR 5 page?

    thanks

That many redirects pointing to a single place might trigger a spam filter.

But assuming you passed what you think you're passing then yes, you'd get a 5.

However you wouldn't necessarily get much of a benefit. Its far better to split topics into multiple pages than to combine them, you just lower the overall relevancy of the page on any single topic and you lower your chances of being included in SERPs.

In short, there is the direct correllation between the number of pages a site has and it's traffic potential.

the thing is the site is poorly designed, very messy. there were 2 pages that were exactly the same (nearly, with minor differences such as spacing) but with different URLs and different pages w/in the site linked to it. i am forwarding the pages regardless, just wanted to know if i would get any boost.

    thanks for the reply
