    If you are talking about a link that says "Click to bookmark" I doubt it's possible.

    JavaScript no doubt, but you should know that it's fairly pointless putting such things in your page. A 'bookmark me' link generates to 'problems', the first being no JS on, no working link. The second is users can clikc the Bookmarks >> Bookmark this page option in the browser, or simply press ctrl + D.

    Why clutter your pages?

    I agree with pauly.

    In Opera it's ctrl + T instead of ctrl + D that is used by Firefox, Netscape, and IE.

    If you mean to use JavaScript to add a bookmark to a browser it is not possible. It only works in Internet Explorer through a proprietary JavaScript extension.

    HTML Code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
     function addBookmark(title, uri){
      if(window.sidebar) window.sidebar.addPanel(title, uri, "");
      else if(document.all) window.external.AddFavorite(uri, title);
     }
    </script>
    <p>Add <a href="http://example.org/" title="example.org"
     onclick="addBookmark(this.title, this.href); return false;"
     rel="sidebar">some page</a> to your bookmarks.</p>
    To my knowledge, this works in IE, Firefox and Opera.

    The sidebar JavaScript code will add a page to the sidebar, not to their bookmarks.

    You're right. Or rather: the bookmark will open in a sidebar. And firefox will ask you twice with my code.

    Both of stymiee's posts were the points that I was trying to get across. Guess I should have been more clear. Thanks bud!

    This works in IE and Firefox:

    Code:
    <script type="text/javascript">

    /***********************************************
    * Bookmark site script- © Dynamic Drive DHTML code library (www.dynamicdrive.com)
    * This notice MUST stay intact for legal use
    * Visit Dynamic Drive at http://www.dynamicdrive.com/ for full source code
    ***********************************************/

    function bookmarksite(title, url){
    if (document.all)
    window.external.AddFavorite(url, title);
    else if (window.sidebar)
    window.sidebar.addPanel(title, url, "")
    }

    </script>
    Then...

    Code:
    <a href="javascript:bookmarksite('Dynamic Drive', 'http://www.dynamicdrive.com')">Bookmark this site!</a>
    for the link.

    The demo can be found here: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex9/addbook.htm

    Like said above, this just adds a page to Firefox's sidebar, not to its bookmarks. There is no JavaScript to add a page to Firefox's bookmarks.

    I just tested the script from http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex9/addbook.htm and it worked like a charm in FF.

    It DID add it to my bookmarks without a hitch.

    I agree. However, I was under the impression that you could not do this in Firefox. Its good to know for future use I guess

    Interesting. It did popup my bookmark dialog. That's actually odd as that code is to add a page to the sidebar. That's something that needs to be explored.

    I guess in the end we can't complain. And in this case I like being proven wrong.

    Hold on. I tried it, and it popped up. I bookmarked it and clicked it -- it opens the window in the sidebar. Am I the only one seeing this behaviour?

    Ahhh. I see what you are talking about.

    It will add the bookmark to your bookmarks without a hitch... except in the properties of the bookmark the "open in sidebar" checkbox is checked off.

    So maybe there isnt a way.
