    Webmaster Communities?

So I'm looking for some large webmaster communities that offer advertising (not small links at the bottom of the site). I'm talking banners or something noticeable. I'm having a hard time finding a places to advertise that contain large groups of you guys.

So with that said... Where do webmasters go on a regular basis? I'm starting a campaign on Seochat and Sitepoint but I'm looking for more.

My site sells website content, so anything SEO related or webmaster related would be perfect. I would love to hear where you guys go (websites) on a regular basis.

Webmasters tend to need hosting so you can certainly find them there. As with all sites, you need to target your campaign. SitePoint for example has a large collection of webmasters, you can reach a subset by advertising in the php forum or a different section by advertising in the business & legal issues forum. Webhostingtalk.com, hosthideout.com and the other hosting forums all have their own mixes, pick the right area and you will get your ad infront of the right people.

Hosting forums would not be a good target (i believe)... These are normally filled with people hosting and the occasional person looking for hosting. This is not really my market, but I may experiment with them.

So where do you guys go on a regular basis?

    I see your problem.

With sitepoint the primary demographic is coders or designers who work for others. Sure, in this area of the forums you have alot of site owners, but the number of sitepoint visitors who actually own content websites is relatively small.

With hosting forums its the same problem, more or less, only instead of coders you have alot of server and network admins.

There aren't alot of good places that target website owners specifically. My site does, and I think in that it is fairly unique, but its too small for your needs I wager.

I'm sure you already do PPC advertising but it could be that, for you, it doesn't get any better than adwords & overture.

You could possibly work out a co-registration type deal with a popular template site. After someone buys a template on the receipt/thank you page it says "New content for your new website, try Constant Content." Then on your site, after a purchase, it says "Need a website, or just a new design, try Acme Templates."

My other suggestion would be to focus on ad-network and affiliate-program review type sites (clickquick for instance), As these have a high percentage of content site owner visitors. You could also consider partnering with an ad network. Many have member help areas with suggested services for increasing the performance of member sites.

Nail on the head Aspen... I do have PPC campaigns running. I have been *trying* to work with some template sites but nothing has really taken off, the co reg may be another way to approach it. I have only approached them for partnerships so far... Some good ideas there... I will look into them. I think SEO companies and people trying to make money with adsense are my target too, but I can't seem to find any real decent size communities.

    Great Concept!
As far as advertising goes on forums I think the key is getting your ads placed in targeted areas so you don't waste your money. The domain name forums would probably work well in general and even the web hosting forums would work well if you get your ads posted in the marketplace/web hosting offer sections.

Most webmasters go to a lot of these communities but we generally only visit certain sections on them. See if you can get ads targeted specifically to the the forums your audience would visit instead of an entire run of the site campaign.

Overall though I'd agree you're going to get the best bang for your buck from PPC. Time spent optimizing a ppc campaign is probably the best way to maximize your advertising efforts.

I own a webmaster community (http://www.lowter.com) that offers advertising. I can hook you up with a noticable banner on the front page for $10/month. If you're interested just PM me.

Most webmaster websites have very high ad prices, such as SitePoint and DevShed.

    Hey iwinweekly.com,

There is no one hungrier for content and articles than affiliates. I know LOTS of affiliates that are paying writers to write articles. I also know of several merchants who are wanting to develop articles and content to give to top affiliates.

My affiliate forum is brand new - just launched this week. But is should get busy pretty fast after I start my *posting contest* next week. But I may be able to a package deal on my main 5 star site which gets high traffic and my blog which is #1 everywhere for affiliate blogs and also top ranked for SEO blogs. The blog gets lots of traffic that is fairly divided between affiliates, webmasters, SEO types and affiliate managers.

Call me, my numbers on my site and I work 7 days a week.

TheAdminZone is mostly for forum admins though right? A forum site isn't going to have much use for articles as they already have a userbase of hundreds or thousands writing content for them.

Webmaster World doesn't allow advertising and webmaster-talk only allows that small link in the upper right corner of the site, unfortunately this won’t be seen by anyone...
