    use this:

    Code:
    <style type="text/css">
    body {
    scrollbar-arrow-color: #000000;
    scrollbar-base-color: #000000;
    scrollbar-dark-shadow-color: #ffffff;
    scrollbar-track-color: #000000;
    scrollbar-face-color: #ffffff;
    scrollbar-shadow-color: #000000;
    scrollbar-highlight-color: #ffffff;
    scrollbar-3d-light-color: #000000;
    }
    </style>

    I don't want to come here and butt into your design decisions but I think it is a really bad idea to do this! In terms of usability it is a nightmare but it also looks horrible!

    IF you are gonna use it, this link will show you exactly what each attribute controls:

    i absolutely agree. windows gives me the option to select the scrollbar colors, and i purposely leave them grey because i'm used to that color and i can easily recognize the scrollbars that way. it definitely is annoying when sites use CSS to change the colors of the scrollbars. saying this is kind of ironic though, because this forum uses customized scrollbar colors.

    i appreciate the input. However, I am being specific to form textarea tags where the scrollbars match the color scheme. Do you still think this is a bad idea?

    to do that, you can use the same CSS attributes as used in the regular scrollbars. for example:

    Code:
    <TEXTAREA COLS="10" ROWS="10"
    STYLE="scrollbar-base-color:#FFFFFF;
    scrollbar-arrow-color:#000000;">
    Text in the box
    </TEXTAREA>
    in most cases, i think that this is less annoying than using them for the page scrollbars, but it probably depends on what color combination you use.

    I have to disagree to a point with you Nicky. If the colours are chosen correctly and they complement the site/design then they can really add to the site IMHO.

    For example, the scrollbars on the SP forums look great in IE5.5 if you ask me. I do see your point about usability though. If they use the same colour for the bar and the background of the bar, then it is very hard to see the bar, but that is the only problem I see with them.

    Here's a great site that makes the code for you. It also has a great image of a scrollbar with arrows to what each part is.

    I recommend you check it out.
