It seems like posts I am viewing are not being marked as read. This does not appear to be a caching issue, as I have refreshed the My Sitepoint page and it seems to have no effect. I have been noticing it for at least the past hour or so.

I had the same problem for a number of hours yesterday and it seems to have fixed itself.
Unfortunatly, I just ready your post, and then went back to "My Sitepoint" and refreshed the page. It was still marked as "unread"
when that happens to me I mark all of the posts as read and just start over. It seems to happen fairly regularly.

What did help is logging out, and then logging back in. That seemd to clear up the issue.

Refreshing my browser usually does the trick for me.
I think that this might be an issue with this version of VB and we are looking to resolve it when we upgrade BUT upgrading is not a simple process!
